Taxi driver stiffed for fare, nearly punched in the face

CORNWALL, Ontario – If you welch on a taxi fare be prepared to face a specific charge via the Cornwall police.

It’s called transportation fraud, and one Cornwall traveller is finding out all about it – the hard way.

Rene Delorme, 52 of Cornwall was arrested March 9 and charged with transportation fraud, threats and breach of probation and undertaking for failing to keep the peace.

Police said a man failed to pay for a taxi ride when he entered a residence on Maple Street. The man then threatened to punch the driver in the face. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation a man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
