For the 25 kilometer journey between Viscount Alexander P.S. and Ingleside, Callan was joined by young Keaton Wagensveld.
As of Friday morning, Keaton had raised more than $2, 600 for then cause.
“Cancer affects people and Terry Fox was a hero,” Keaton said when asked why he was running.
Callan, a teacher at Longue Sault Public School, said that he had known so many people in his family and in the community who had struggled with cancer and wanted to promote Terry’s legacy and continue the fight against the disease.
“I’ve been doing a lot of longer runs in preparation for this,” said Callan, a fitness enthusiast. “I’ve never run 150 kilometers before and its going to be all about surviving.”
Along the way he will have his wife following him in a car to make sure he has enough food and water.
Callan plans to finish his run at the Terry Fox Memorial Statue in Ottawa at 2 a.m. Saturday morning.
