WILLIAMSBURG, Ontario – For 25 years the Williamsburg Community Association has held the Fall Festival, but this year will be the last.
“We don’t have enough volunteers to keep our committee going,” said committee President David Lapier. “Its hard after 25 years also to keep it fresh. We want to keep it fun but it is getting harder to do that and keep it cheap. We were thinking of having fireworks this year but that would be a few thousand dollars. We always have had fantastic volunteers since the beginning, but the ones who started with us are in their 60s and 70s now.”
The festival runs from Friday Sept. 23 to Saturday, Sept. 24.
Friday night has a free movie night at Oddfellows Hall. Saturday begins with the Outhouse Races on Villa Drive at 10 a.m. and the Harvest Festival Parade begins at noon.
“I’d like to thank everyone for their support over the years,” said Lapier. “If someone wants to take over the festival in the future, we would be here to support them.”
