CORNWALL, Ontario – Environment Canada issued a Thunderstorm Watch for Cornwall and the surrounding area on Wednesday, June 26, 2019.

“Thunderstorms are forecast to develop this afternoon and persist into this evening. The main threats are wind gusts up to 100 km/h and 2 cm hail. There is also the threat of an isolated tornado,” the Environment Canada Weather Watch reads. “Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!”

According to The Weather Network, rain is likely for the Cornwall area in the morning, tapering off at around noon, with thunderstorms and rain returning later in the afternoon at around 4 p.m.

Thunderstorms are likely to continue into the evening on Wednesday, with temperatures in the high 20s, but feeling more like the mid-30s with the humidity.
