CORNWALL, Ontario – The Cornwall River Kings ownership saga continues to twist and turn, with word coming the Ligue Nord-Americaine de Hockey is eyeing a new owner.
The league is supposed to make an announcement concerning the team at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. The league did not elaborate.
In a press release Tuesday the league said it has provided a conditional offer on the embattled semi-pro franchise to a new owner.
It did not indicate who the prospective owner is.
Coun. Brock Frost owned the team for a time this sumer, before selling it to Darren Madden who withdrew his desire to operate the team days ago.
The league assumed ownership after that and has considered everything from selling it to a new owner, to dissolving the team.
More to come.
