SD&G – A 30-year-old North Stormont man is dead following a single-vehicle crash near Monkland.
It happened on Highway 138, south of McNeil Road, at about 7:42 a.m. on Friday (Jan. 15).
According to SD&G OPP, the man’s Jeep was northbound when the vehicle left the roadway and collided with a hydro pole on the west side of the highway.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.
SD&G OPP Const. Joel Doiron says a section of Highway 138 between County Road 43 in Monkland and McNeil Road had been closed to traffic, but has since re-opened.
Provincial police are still investigating the cause of the fatal accident.
