CORNWALL, Ontario – Freezing rain will develop tonight and continue into Sunday morning.
After a mild, benign weather pattern, a low pressure system originating from the American southwest is expected to propel a mixed bag of wintery weather into Ontario tonight into Sunday.
Snow and ice pellets are forecast to develop this evening in most areas then change to freezing rain late this evening or overnight. The freezing rain will continue into Sunday morning before changing briefly to some snow or flurries before ending.
There is potential for ice amounts of five to possibly 10 mm.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break. Utility outages may occur.
Snow is expected to start to fall again late Monday, and by the time its finished on Tuesday or Wednesday there could be more than 10 cm on the ground.
