SOUTH STORMONT, Ontario – On Tuesday, Nov. 22, the SD&G detachment of the OPP identified 53-year-old Shawn Cryderman as the fatal victim in a collision that occurred on Monday Nov. 21 on County Road 18 in South Stormont, approximately 2 kilometers west of Osnabruck Centre.

Cryderman, and two other males who have not been identified were on the side of the road in the south bound ditch trying to get a car out of the ditch when they were struck by another vehicle.

An unidentified 19-year-old was driving the passenger vehicle that struck the three men. He lost control of his vehicle for reasons that are still under investigation.

Cryderman and one other man were transported to hospital where Cryderman was pronounced deceased.

The other man is 32-years-old, from North Dundas Township and has not been identified and remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A third pedestrian was treated on the scene for minimal injuries.

Friends of Shawn Cryderman have setup a GoFundMe page to finance his funeral arrangements.

“He had no life insurance, so that means no money to put Shawn to rest,” the page reads. “This hero deserves to be put rest.”

The page goes on to state that he was well known in Osnabruck Centre and that the money raised will go towards a burial and tombstone.
