VOTER INFORMATION: Electors across the Cornwall region head to the polls today

CORNWALL, Ontario – After all the promises and rhetoric of a five-alarm election campaign it all boils down to this.

Cornwall and area voters head to the polls today to choose who will fill vacant seats around municipal council tables as part of the Ontario municipal election.

Polls will be open in Cornwall from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at a variety of locations to cast a ballot.

Earlier in the campaign city clerk Helen Finn pointed out to Seaway News there are, in fact, a lot more than the 10 locations that are getting most of the spotlight.

She said in addition eight institutions and retirement homes are available for people to cast a ballot, as well as eight other so-called “large complexes.”

She said the facilities include Riverdale Terrace and McConnell Manor, to name just a couple.

“Anyone can vote anywhere,” she stressed. “It’s not like the 1980s, where you had to go to a (specific place).”

The 10 other voting locations in Cornwall include Viscount Alexander School, city hall, Eastcourt Mall, La Citadelle Secondary School, the Benson Centre, Cornwall Square, L’Heritage Secondary School, General Vanier School, Eamer’s Corners Public School and Rose des Vents School.
