WINCHESTER, Ontario – The Winchester District Memorial Hospital (WDMH) commended the McGillivray family of Long Sault for supporting charities within the community for the past 15 years.

The McGillivray’s donated funds raised from their annual pig roast to support Cornwall Hospice and the WDMH this year. They invited members of the community to enjoy live music, great food and great company for a small donation. The family has raised thousands over the last 15 years, donating it all back to the community.

“This year, the WDMH Foundation was honoured to be included at the July 27 event,” said Cindy Peters, Manager of Direct Mail and Events. “The $500 donation will be directed to the General Equipment Fund.”

A WDMH press release noted that many people are surprised to learn that the provincial government does not fund the purchase of medical equipment for Ontario hospitals. Donors are essential in helping ensure that the WDMH has the right tools to provide excellent health care for patients.

“We are happy to be able to help out as Winchester Hospital is very important to our community,” said Liz McGillivray.

“Thank you to Kenny, Liz and all the guests for their generosity – and for supporting WDMH,” said Peters.
