CORNWALL, Ontario – Canada Day falls on a Sunday this year, which means that some stores might be closed on holiday Monday and open on Sunday. Here is a list of stores and services in Cornwall and whether or not they are operating this Canada Day weekend.

According to the City of Cornwall, the following services will be affected by Canada Day in the following ways:

  • Cornwall City Hall and other municipal offices will be closed on Monday, July 2.
  • The Cornwall Civic Complex will remain open with access to the walking track.
  • The Cornwall Aquatic Centre will be open on Sunday, July 1 from 2 p.m. to 3:25 p.m. for a leisure swim sponsored by the City of Cornwall. The facility will be open as usual on Monday, July 2.
  • Mattice, Reg Campbell and St. Joseph outdoor pools will be open on July 1 and 2 from 1:30 to 4:30, weather permitting, for a paid swim ($3.60 for adults, $3.10 for children, $3.50 for students, $3.40 for seniors, $2.95 for accessibility). The three outdoor pools will be open as of Saturday, June 30, while St. Francis and Terry Fox pools are expected to open between July 6 and 9.
  • The Benson Centre is closed on Sunday, July 1, and will be open on Monday, July 2.
  • Cornwall Public Library will be closed on July 1 and 2, re-opening on Tuesday, July 3 at 9 a.m..
  • Garbage and recycling collection will not be affected.

Cornwall Transit will offer a free shuttle bus on Sunday, July 1, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. A full map and schedule are available at www.cornwalltransit.ca/en/transit/cornwalltransit.asp. On Monday, July 2, Cornwall Transit offices will be closed, and buses will not be running.

The following stories are affected by Canada Day:

The LCBO will be open on Canada Day, but will be closed Monday.

The Beer Store will be open on Canada Day, but will be closed Monday.

The Square will be open on Canada Day, but will be closed Monday.

Baxtrom’s Your Independent Grocer will be open on Canada Day, but will be closed Monday.
