CORNWALL, Ontario – On Monday Sept. 23 at 7 pm, Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps 110 Stormont is hosting an open house and information session at the Armouries on Fourth St. in Cornwall.

There will be activities for youth and an information session for parents/guardians.

Cadets is a free organization for youth aged 12-19 years old. The Stormont Sea Cadets train on Monday nights from 6 p.m.-9:30 p.m. and on Saturday mornings from 8:30 a.m.- noon at the Cornwall Armouries. There is no cost associated with the program and uniforms and training events are all provided free of charge.

Regular training on Monday nights helps cadets learn about leadership, citizenship, seamanship, drill, sailing, fitness and health, naval terminology, and communication, and cadets are  encouraged to join competitive band, range, and biathlon teams. Weekend events allow cadets to put their skills to use with hands on training and opportunities. Cadets who successfully complete a training year (September – June) have opportunities to attend summer camps, and many cadets find summer employment across Ontario and Canada. You will see Stormont Sea Cadets at events across the community (Christmas parades, Remembrance Day ceremonies, Tall Ships) If you have children aged 12 who may be interested, come and join us on Sept. 23 to see what it is all
about—officers and civilian instructors will be on hand to answer all your questions. More information about joining the program can be found online at http://www.cadets.ca/en/join/cadets.page
