CORNWALL, Ontario – Joyce Miller and her husband Farrand were a pillar of Cornwall for many years and prominent members of the city’s Jewish community. Joyce passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 12, she was 86.

Joyce and Farrand, along with her brother-in-law were longtime owners of the Julius Miller furniture store, a business that operated in Cornwall for more than 50 years.

Joyce was an active volunteer with many organizations around town including the MS Society Cornwall & District Chapter, Meals on Wheels, CNIB, the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart & Stroke Foundation and more.

In 1996, Joyce Miller was named Citizen of the Year.

Joyce and Farrand were married for 61 years. Farrand passed away in 2014 at the age of 85. They are survived by four children, Jack, Howard, Burl and Robin.

“Joyce was one of the kindest women you will ever meet and she was a wonderful influence and inspiration in my life personally and I’m very honoured to call her my dear friend for 35 years, a friendship that I will treasure for my lifetime,” said longtime friend Karen Torrie-Racine.
