CANADA – Health Canada has announced that it is recalling 15,000 snow throwers due to a risk of exploding rims.

Yardworks, Yard Machines, MTD Yard Machines and Troy-Bilt Series 2 Stage snow throwers sold between 2004 and 2006 are being recalled because their plastic wheel rims can break if over inflated causing risk of laceration or fractures.

Health Canada is recommending that anyone who finds that they own a recalled snow thrower stop using it immediately and contact MTD Yard Machines for free replacement rims.

The following model numbers are affected and were sold at Home Depot, Rona, Home Hardware, and Canadian Tire: 31AS3BAD515, 31AS3CAD516, 31BS3AAE563, 31AS3BAD516, 31AS3BB2563, 31A-3DAD529, and 31A-3AAD500.

As of last month, Health Canada has received 36 reports of injuries due to the use of the product.

Consumers can contact MTD toll-free at 1 (800) 668-1238 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. EST Monday through Friday.
