CORNWALL, Ontario – Local weightlifters got the chance to test their mettle at the annual Quest Strongman/ Strongwoman competition held at Quest on Saturday, Aug. 18.

Winner of the female competition was Karine Parthenais who took home $200 donated by Dr. Navaneelan Family & Cosmetic Dentistry.

Lance Kelly won in the Male Light Weight Division under 185lbs and also won $200 from Dr. Navaneelan Family and Cosmetic Dentistry.

Kevin Mcleod won $50 in the Quest Middle Weight under 220lbs division.

Other winners included Patrick Dumais, who won $200 from Dr. Navaneelan Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, Ethan Harmaty won $50 from Quest for his performance in the Heavy Weight over 220.1lbs Division. Mike MacIntyre won $200 from Dr. Navaneelan Family & Cosmetic Dentistry and Chad Parthenais won $50 from Quest.

Events included tire flip, deadlift, log press and a medley which involved carrying three implements over 150 feet ranging in weight from 150-250lbs.

The event’s MVP was Chris Tkac with the runner-up being Maxime Beauchamps of Montreal. Beauchamps won $150 from Love Love Food and Tony Lacroix.

“All athletes cheered each other on and the event was great success, so happy to see everyone work as a team, huge numbers that shocked my expectations,” said Thomas Irvine of Quest. “Volunteers Waytte Brochert, lacrosse legend Jacob Ruest, Greg and Tracy Critch and Pete Bouvier made this event smooth and successful.”

On-site therapy was provided by Fascial stretch expert Eric McCracken, with massage therapy by Jessica Irvine and Suzanne Laundriault.
