SUMMERSTOWN, Ontario – The Friends of the Summerstown Trails (FOTST) will be holding their 1st Annual SKIFEST weekend on Feb. 26-27, featuring loppet-style classic ski races for adults on Saturday, while Sunday will offer races for the younger kids.

The term loppet originated in Europe and can be defined as “a gathering of skiers who ski on a specifically groomed trail”. Some are humongous, but ours will be community-run, with a friendly and fun atmosphere. The races will be timed, but for many skiers, the time is of no importance, the fun and challenge come from skiing the chosen distance.

Members of the media are invited to come out for interviews and photos.
