CORNWALL, Ontario – The Cornwall Curling Club wrapped up its Winterspiel VII tournament this Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, in Cornwall, ON. The final day concluded a 5 day span of curling competition right here in town, with competitors in both the men’s and women’s divisions.
Saturday night’s finals saw Jonathon King beat out John Wright for the men’s title. For the women’s competition, Mitch Baker won against Jen Baker. The men’s event was sponsored by Cornwall Dental Arts, while the women’s division was sponsored by Pommier Jewellers.
Following the final matchup, around 140 participants and fans joined together to chow down Italian style, with a meal provided by volunteers and sponsors, complete with Italian inspired musical performances.
In the men’s division, Neal MacLean beat out Alex MacDougall for the B title. Ron Leroux won against Jim Lamoureux for the C title. Dennis Henderson won the D title against Charles Wert. The women’s B winner was Janis Sobering against Luce Lalonde, while the C winner was Donna Cain-Spagnola beating Susan Fort.
