Chesterville Special Olympian wins four gold and a silver in Los Angeles

CORNWALL, Ontario – A Chesterville Special Olympian is coming home with a boatload of medals.

Christina Judd-Campbell has captured four gold medals and a silver at the World Special Olympics taking place in Los Angeles currently.

Her medal haul includes gold for rhythmic hoop level 4A, rhythmic ribbon level 4B, rhythmic clubs level 4B and rhythmic all-around level 4B, as well as a silver in rhythmic ball level 4A.

Judd-Campbell is no stranger to competition – she’s already a veteran of two previous world games.

Her accomplishments include winning all-around gold in rhythmic gymnastics at the 2011 World Summer Games in Athens, Greece, becoming a Special Olympics ambassador and being named Female Athlete of the Year in 2007.

Judd-Campbell’s family has not been reached yet, but North Dundas Mayor Eric Duncan had high praise for the local athlete.

“It is so exciting to see a North Dundas athlete become such a successful Olympian on the world stage,” he said. “Christina has been a great ambassador for our community and our country and we are all very proud of her to say the least.”
