CORNWALL, Ontario – The Seaway Valley Theatre Company (SVTC) kicks off their latest season with It Runs in the Family a farce by Ray Cooney.

The play is set in a hospital in London, England. The head of the Neurology Department is getting ready to give a lecture that could make his career, but a visit from an ex-lover threatens to send everything off the rails. The play follows his story and the attempts of his naive and innocent assistant to help him.

Play Director Dave Barnes explained that he loved the pure blind farce.

“I love Ray Cooney’s stories,” said Barnes. “You can’t possibly have this situation in real-life. The whole suspension of reality is what does it to me.”

Barnes himself played the role of the assistant back in the days of the Glen Theatre in the 1990s.

The play will be performed at École secondaire publique L’Héritage. The red carpet event is on Nov. 9, with the play being performed on Nov. 11 & 12, 17 & 18 and 24 & 25 with a matinee on Nov. 19 at 1:30 p.m. For all regular performances, the show begins at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are available at www.svtc.theticketwicket.ca and at the United Way of SD&G.
