CORNWALL, Ontario – Feb. 3 will be the 40th Tim Hortons Bowling for Kids Sake in Cornwall and this year’s honourary chair Hermann Rogalsky has memories to share from the events long history.

Rogalsky was the chair of the first Bowling for Kids Sake, then known as Bowling for Millions and has entered a bowling team into the event several times. He hopes to bring back some of his old lane mates to the event this year.

“I had just moved into Cornwall in ’78 and my office was on McConnel and Fourth,” Rogalsky said. He remembered how he would meet with the Big Brothers/ Big Sisters Executive Director of the day who convinved him to come on board as the first honourary chair. Rogalsky has helped raise thousands of dollars for Big Brothers/ Big Sisters through Bowling for Kids Sake and in 1992 was the Big of the Year.

“Hermann has been a big supporter of all of our events, but especially Bowling for Kids Sake,”  said Big Brothers/ Big Sisters Interim Executive Director Jillian Hendry.

Rogalsky said that he was happy to be involved again.

“I came back and the next thing I know it came up that I would be honourary chair,” he said. “I felt honoured and I came back and wated to help out and make sure the program kept going.”

Tim Hortons Bowling for Kids Sake has grown so much in 40 years and is now the flagship event for Big Brothers/ Big Sisters. Last year, there were over 1, 000 participants with more than 200 teams.

“This has been such a popular and successful fundraiser for more than 30 years,” said Hendry.

Tim Hortons Bowling for Kids Sake will take place on Saturday, Feb. 3 at Olympia Bowl and Nativité Bowling in Cornwall. Teams can sign up with four-to-six people and the minimum pledge per player is $20.

Those who cannot make it out to the lanes will also have the opportunity to sign up and donate as virtual bowlers this year.

To sign up contact Big Brothers/ Big Sisters at 613-933-8035 or by email at cornwall@bigbrothersbigsisters.ca

Hendry is encouraging everyone who has ever taken part in this event to come out this year for this important anniversary.
