SOUTH STORMONT, Ontario – OPP received a report around 8:17 a.m. of a train fire on County Rd. 12 on Tuesday, Jan. 29. 

SDG OPP Cst. Tylor Copeland explained that emergency personnel were called to the scene after the third engine of a three-engine freight train caught fire. The freight train blocked County Rd. 12 track Northwest of Long Sault.

No injuries were reported. 

After South Stormont fire extinguished the blaze, the affected portion of the locomotive was moved away from the roadway.

County Rd. 12 remained closed for a short time but has since reopened.
