Freezing rain to hit region Wednesday evening
It is a day for early-morning ice scraping.

CORNWALL & SDG, Ontario – Environment Canada issued a weather statement just after 3 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 18 calling for freezing rain to hit the region on Wednesday, Feb. 20.

The freezing rain, which may last into Thursday morning, may affect the following areas:

Cornwall – Lancaster

Morrisburg – Long Sault

Winchester – Newington

Our region may see 5 to 10 cm of snow and ice pellets before the changeover to freezing rain into Thursday morning. The storm may be caused from a low pressure system from Texas that is moving towards the Great Lakes.

When surfaces such as roads, sidewalks and parking lots become icy, they could pose potential hazards. Motorists are advised to use extra caution.
