ONTARIO – There will be no classes for Grade 9 to 12 students at the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) on Wednesday, Dec. 4, unless the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation (OSSTF) reaches an agreement with their employer and the province.
Last week, OSSTF threatened a one-day walkout on Dec. 4 if no agreement was reached.
The teachers are striking over mandatory electronic lessons, pay, and class sizes.

The UCDSB posted the following update on their website in regards to classes and services on Dec. 4.
- There will be no classes, planned activities, co-operative education placements, duel-credit programs, or extracurriculars for students in Grades 9 to 12. There will also be no transportation provided for these students.
- There will be no classes for students in specialized programs in Grades 7-12, known as ABLE, SDP, Transitions or Foundations programs. There will also be no transportation provided for these students.
- Regular classes for students in Kindergarten to Grade 8 WILL proceed as usual, even if students in Grade 7 and Grade 8 are in a secondary school. Transportation for these students remains unaffected.
- Community use programs and childcare operations that are run in our schools will not be impacted.
The UCDSB state that they will make an update on their website by 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday morning.
