Please take note of the following changes to programs and services during the holiday season.

  • Municipal offices will be closed from Tuesday, December 24 at noon to Thursday, January 2 at 8:30 a.m. For any Municipal Works inquiry, the following phone line is monitored at all hours: 613-932-5354.
  • There will be no bus service on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Bus service ends at 6 PM on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Buses will be running on December 27 and 28 and January 2. The Transit office will be open until noon on December 24 and 31. The office will also be open on December 27.
  • The Aquatic Centre will be closed at 12 p.m. on December 24 and 31 and all day on Christmas and New Year’s Day. On Boxing Day, the Aquatic Centre will be open for a leisure swim from 2 p.m. to 3:25 p.m.
  • The Benson Centre and Civic Complex will both be closed at 12 p.m. on December 24 and 31, and all day on Christmas and New Year’s Day.
  • There will be no garbage and recycling collection on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day. Collection for those days will be pushed back one day, and for the remainder of the week. The landfill will be closed on Christmas and New Year’s Day. The landfill will also be closed on December 30 until 1 p.m. due to a planned power outage. For the waste collection calendar, please click here.
  • Christmas tree collection takes place from January 6 to 10. Residents are asked to place their real trees at the curb on their regular collection day for pick up. Trees must be out prior to 7 a.m. in a shovelled-out area. Please note this collection is not for artificial trees.
  • The week of December 30 to January 4, extra bags of garbage will be accepted at the curb. This means residents can set out bags beyond the six-bag limit for this week only. Only extra garbage bags will be accepted (there will be no bulk item pickup). The City of Cornwall hopes additional bags will allow residents to manage post-Christmas waste more effectively.
  • The Cornwall Public Library will be closed on December 24, 25, 26 and January 1. The library is open from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on December 31. For full holiday hours, please click here.
