Christmas message from Mayor Bernadette Clement

Council has had an incredibly busy year. I am so proud of the work we’ve accomplished with staff and our partners throughout the region.
Hosting the Cirque du Soleil premiere showcased our ability to collaborate and support exciting new ventures. It gave us a boost of confidence and was a proud moment for the entire region.

From our historic meeting with the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne, to team building and developing our strategic plan, it has been 12 months of non-stop collaborations and forward thinking. One such collaboration – our strategic planning meeting – has inspired much of the work Council has done in 2019 – and will continue to do in 2020.

The entire plan is available on our website at www.Cornwall.ca/strategic. The five pillars of Council’s plan are waterfront development, workforce enhancement, housing growth, economic development and population growth, and environmental sustainability.
Council and I want to hear from you as we execute this plan. How would you like to see Cornwall grow? What are your priorities for the next three years? Connect with me on Facebook, or email me at bclement@cornwall.ca.

In the meantime, Council will continue to work for you and for our community. We will focus on the waterfront, we will see growing community support for the arts centre, and we will start the year with a meeting with councillors from across Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry.

Merry Christmas, Cornwall! Joyeux Noël!

Bernadette Clement, Mayor of Cornwall
