In 2023, two local sisters decided to start a business, inspired by the market life they were raised in. Abby, 11, and Laurelei, 7, who go to Eamer’s Corners recently launched The Creative Sisters, selling keychains and art prints, cards, and more.
How it Started:
It all started when the girls decided to repurpose some old toys.
“We had a bunch of extra Adorables and thought, we might as well use them if they’re just laying around. So, we bought some stuff for keychains,” Abby told Seaway News, “And then I wanted to do some art, so we got some flowers and we made them into little prints.”
Debbie Burns, Co-Founder at W3G & Co., saw the girls’ paintings at a kids’ art show and asked if the girls wanted to set up a table at her next market. From there, it snowballed into the girls starting their exciting new venture, The Creative Sisters.
“The girls have been coming to markets with me since they were little,” explained the girls’ mother and Epicure representative, Angie Boisvenue, “Laurelei was literally a newborn at her first market. So, they’ve pretty much grown up in it and all of the vendor ladies know them already.”
Boisvenue, a big supporter of local women-led small business, connected with KayTee’s Cluttered Attic to make the girls signage. Another friend’s daughter, @theintrovertedcartoonist, designed a graphic of the two girls – anime style – for their logo.
How it‘s Going:
Abby and Laurelei have enjoyed the process of making and selling their creations so far.
“We’re starting to sell the originals of the artwork that we’re doing,” said Laurelei when asked what comes next.
The Creative Sisters set up shop at the recent W3G & Co. Artisans in the Park event at the Lost Villages Museum, where they showcased original art, prints, cards, and new kinds of keychains.
