CORNWALL, Ontario – The Holy Trinity Girls Rugby Team hosted a Christmas Craft Show this Saturday, Dec. 2, with 120 vendors in attendance.

All proceeds from the event will go toward their upcoming trip to Ireland this April. The girls have been working hard for a year and a half, and are hoping that this fundraising effort will help settle more than a few balances.

Katie Dion is a parent volunteer, and says that the girls have put their noses to the grindstone with fundraising.

“We’re very proud of our girls,” said parent volunteer, Katie Dion. “They’ve been putting in a lot of hours cutting lawns, bagging leaves – everything.”

Dion says this will be the final fundraiser if all goes well, with all the proceeds from the silent auction, 50/50, bake sale, and vendor fees going toward the trip.

Dion says that they initially created a post on facebook, looking for vendors, and received a huge response. With many vendors impressed with the public reaction, there were many who returned for the Christmas Craft Show.

“It’s a good time to do it – the vendors are happy because they get to do their Christmas stuff and there’s lots of space,” said Dion.

With April coming fast, the girls will soon be on their way to compete in an international competition. But thanks to some hard work and patient mentors, they won’t have to worry about how they’ll get there.
