CORNWALL, Ontario – Hassan Rafiei just donated a lot of hair and a lot of money to a good cause.
Rafiei is the General Manager of the Sheep’s Head Bistro and challenged guests and friends to donate money and in exchange cut his hair and donated it to Locks of Love. Locks of Love is a non-profit that provides hair pieces for disadvantaged children who are suffering from medical illnesses that result in hair loss.
Rafiei promised that if he raised $1,500 he would cut 10 inches off of his long locks. He wound up raising $5,000 and completely shaved his head.
Rafiei will be giving the money to the Cornwall Community Hospital’s chemo unit.
“It’s been almost a year I’ve been thinking about donating my hair,” said Rafiei in April while he was still raising money. “I’ve been growing my hair for about three years, since we opened the restaurant.”
Rafiei said that almost everyone knows someone who has been touched by cancer and that he got the idea for this fundraiser from a regular customer to the restaurant.
He shaved his head on May 9 at Schnitzels in Cornwall and had reached his fundraising goal that same day.
