GLEN WALTER, Ontario – Hassan Rafiei just could not find time for a haircut these past few years, but he has decided that it is finally time to cut those locks and he is doing it out of love for a good cause.

Rafiei is the General Manager of the Sheep’s Head Bistro and has been challenging guests and friends to donate money and in exchange he will cut his hair and donate it to Locks of Love. Locks of Love is a non-profit that provides hair pieces for disadvantaged children who are suffering from medical illnesses that result in hair loss.

If he managed to raise $1,500, Rafiei said he would cut 10 inches off of his lengthy head of hair. He has since surpassed that number and has now set a new goal. If he manages to raise $5,000, he will completely shave his head.

Rafiei will be donating the money that he raises to the Cornwall Community Hospital’s chemo unit.

“It’s been almost a year I’ve been thinking about donating my hair,” he said. “I’ve been growing my hair for about three years, since we opened the restaurant.”

Rafiei said that almost everyone knows someone who has been touched by cancer and that he got the idea for this fundraiser from a regular customer to the restaurant.

Rafiei has until May 9 to reach his goal. He will be having his hair cut that day at Schnitzels in Cornwall.

Those who wish to contribute to the campaign can make donations at Schnitzels, Sheep’s Head Bistro or on the Sheep’s Head Facebook page.
