On Saturday, February 11th, Off Your Rocker and the Not Your Average Joe Show hosted Musical Comedy Night – Valentine’s Edition at the Seaway Valley Theatre Company. With Pink Shirt Day just around the corner, the show was raising funds for local non-profit and anti-bullying advocates, Champs Eastside Boxing.

The $900 raised will go towards new equipment, travelling expenses for the kids, and more.

Champs Eastside Boxing promotes the advancement of youth through boxing education, positive leadership, and inclusivity. Present at the show this weekend was Jorge Luis (Owner – Trainer) and his son, retired professional boxer and current boxing writer/analyst, Tony Luis.

“Jorge has been teaching boxing since the late 90s, with his passion for boxing and his love of community. He has done more for the youth in this city than most,” said Joe Bowman, “It was an honor to be able to give back to the club that gave me some of my best years and memories. This club is Cornwall’s hidden gem.”

The sold-out show featured several acts, including host Mark Vincent, Patt Cardinal, Glenys Marshall, Rory Gardiner, and Joe Bowman. The comedians had the audience in stitches with relatable takes on relationships and parenting as well as musical comedy performances to be remembered.

In an exciting conclusion to the evening, boxer and musical comedy headliner Joe Bowman challenged long-time friend Tony Luis to return to the ring later this year for a charity exhibition fight.
