CORNWALL, Ontario – A cheque for $2,086.67 was presented to Rachel’s Kids on behalf of the Rose Bowl and students of École Secondaire Catholique La Citadelle.

The Rose Bowl, which took place on Oct. 2, saw the St. Joseph Secondary School Panthers challenge the La Citadelle Patriots. Funds raised during the annual football game were in honour of Alaya Riley. Alaya, a 16-year-old student of La Citadelle, passed away after battling osteosarcoma on Sept. 19, 2018.

“Today, Dec. 18, 2018 would be Alaya’s 17th birthday, and although she is no longer with us, her legacy lives on through her friends and family,” read a statement from Rachel’s Kids in a press release.

Heartfelt tributes continue to be posted on the Facebook page Alaya’s Journey.
