CMHA WinterFest Tournament returns to Benson Centre, Civic Complex

Hockey will be in the spotlight in Cornwall this weekend as the Cornwall Minor Hockey Association (CMHA) hosts its annual Rep B WinterFest hockey tournament.

The annual event will showcase over 30 teams from Cornwall, SDG Counties and other parts of eastern Ontario in the U11, U13, U15 and U18 age divisions. The action kicks off Friday, February 3rd and runs until Sunday, with the championship games taking place Sunday afternoon at the Benson Centre (pads 2 and 3).

“It’s a tournament that our teams look forward to every year,” said CMHA President Gerry Sommerville. “For a lot of them, it’s a chance to play in front of family and friends right here at home. It’s also a great opportunity to welcome visiting teams to our community for some great hockey.”

Visiting teams will be coming from Brockville, Renfrew, Petawawa, Pembroke, Rockland, Perth and elsewhere.

In addition to the teams, the WinterFest tournament also draws a lot of families and friends looking to take in the action. Residents are encouraged to check out the action throughout the weekend and the full tournament schedule can be found on the CMHA Facebook page. Admission is free.

“Come out and cheer on the teams and enjoy some great minor hockey,” Sommerville added.
