CORNWALL, Ontario – The Cornwall Waterfront Farmers’ Market (CWFM) continues to grow as we serve the community by connecting locals and visitors to farmers’ and food producers from Cornwall, SDG, Prescott Russell, and Akwesasne.

Since the CWFW inception on June 6 through to August 1st, thousands of patrons have come out excited to be doing their weekly shopping at the market to pick up fresh vegetables, baked goods, and prepared foods. “This is just awesome, being at the market is just what we all needed” said one guest as she left with flowers in hand, boxes of pastries and a basket of fresh produce.

While there are Covid restrictions to comply with, patrons at the market can enjoy the outdoor space without a mask if they choose to. All public health and physical distancing restrictions are followed, and we ask the public to respect the regulations.

The market has featured 12 to 20 vendors a week and we are now set to move from the Cornwall Civic Centre parking lot to Lamoureux Park this coming Sunday, August 8. The move to the park will accommodate a few dozen new vendors including more prepared foodies, and farmers, along with Not for Profits and artisans. Come on down every Sunday from 10am to 2pm through to October 31st rain or shine!

On this day we will celebrate Green Explosion Day with a plethora of everything that grows up green! Yoga at the Market and Children’s arts and crafts activities will be going on sponsored and organized bi-weekly by Cornerstone Organics. The following week we will have a corn roast featuring Lang Sweet Corn and Just Farms. Each week to come will have a little something special to feature, and to partake in.

The last Sunday of August will be Tomato Tornado Day where you will find a large variety of tomatoes and market goers are invited to support the market by planning to come down for a pasta and sauce lunch fundraiser prepared with tomatoes, vegetables, and herbs from all our growers and prepared by Kozroot Garlic and Herb Farm.

Every Sunday is a great day to come down to the Cornwall Waterfront Farmers’ Market. Mark your calendars for the Eastern Ontario Garlic Market being hosted on September 26th and Harvest Harmony on October 31st which will be the last day of the market.

The Cornwall Waterfront Farmers Market is an essential service to fill the gap for a local farmers’ market on Sundays over the 2021 season in the city and is an initiative of Kozroots Community Empowerment Projects in partnership with Eastern Ontario Agri-food Network. The market is vendor driven with a steering committee that guides the process and youth led with amazing young people who are Agrifood Apprentices working on farms and sharing their vision and leadership for local food and community.

We are grateful to all the partners who have helped bring the Cornwall Waterfront Farmers Market to life. A special shout out to Baldwin House who has committed to being the friendly face greeting visitor every Sunday for the full season.
