Man facing multiple charges after altercation with police

CORNWALL, Ontario – A 28-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on Jan. 28, 2020 and charged with the following:

*         Assault police with a weapon x three

*         Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

*         Administer noxious substance

*         Mischief under $5,000

*         Mischief over $5,000

*         Mischief – interfere with lawful use of property

*         Disarm police

*         Carry a concealed weapon

*         Resist police x two

*         Breach of recognizance x three (for possessing weapons)

It is alleged during an altercation at his grandmother’s residence on Jan. 27, 2020, the man damaged a door and a wall in her residence. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, the man threw various objects at police, as well as administered an unknown chemical. He was further allegedly in possession of a knife, BB gun, and a concealed razorblade, despite his conditions to not possess any weapons. He was taken into custody and transported to the hospital, where he damaged numerous items and disarmed a police officer of their taser. He was charged accordingly and held in custody to await a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.
