CORNWALL, Ontario – Gatineau based property management company Devcore has entered into an agreement to purchase the Nav Centre in Cornwall from Nav Canada.

A notice posted on the Union of Canadian Transportation Employees (UCTE) confirmed that Devcore Inc. has come to an agreement with Nav Canada to purchase the Nav Centre with a closing date for the sale being June 30.

The deal was further confirmed by Brian Boudreau, Manager for Media Relations with Nav Canada.

“At this time, we can confirm that NAV CANADA has come to an agreement to sell the NAV CENTRE to DEVCORE Group, a private corporation that is well established in the property management sector and which has an existing presence in Cornwall, Ontario,” reads a statement from Boudreau.

Boudreau did state that Nav Canada would maintain a presence at the Nav Centre after the sale is finalized.

“As part of the agreement, NAV CANADA will be entering in a lease back contract that will allow for us to maintain a footprint at the Centre and continue to enable the important work that is currently undertaken by NAV CANADA employees every day,” he said.

The Nav Centre was completed in 1979. It feautres 500 guest rooms, over 55 meeting rooms, a 250-seat lecture hall, a restaurant, cafe, sauna, swimming pool and more.

It is also has facilities that allow for the training of flight control officers and hosts the Canadian Force’s School of Aerospace Control Operations (CFSACO).

A request for comment from Devcore about their future plans for the site went unanswered as of time of publication.
