SOUTH DUNDAS, Ontario – Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers are currently at the scene of a two vehicle collision on Hwy 401 (between Upper Canada Road and County Road 31), South Dundas Township.

Preliminary investigation has indicated that at approximately 9:37 a.m., a tractor trailer was travelling westbound on Hwy 401 when, for reasons under investigation, a passenger vehicle entered the Highway 401 travelling eastbound in the westbound lanes and collided with the westbound Tractor trailer.

The male driver (lone occupant) of the eastbound passenger vehicle was pronounced deceased at scene

Names are being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.

The driver of the tractor trailer was un-injured.

SD&G OPP continue to process the scene and investigate the collision with the assistance of the OPP Traffic Collision Investigators (TCI).

As the investigation continues, a section (Westbound lanes) of Hwy 401 between Upper Canada Road and County Road 31, South Dundas Township is closed to traffic with indicated detours in place.
