CORNWALL, Ontario – The winner of a grilled cheese contest earlier this month had his chance to cook for the lunch crowd at Schnitzels European Flavours on Wednesday, Dec. 6.

Nathanyl Brown took part in the competition held at St. Matthew’s High School on Nov. 23. The competition was organized by Laurencrest Youth Services and was a part of their after school Comfort Zone program.

Each competitor had to make their own unique grilled cheese sandwiches and win the favour of three judges.

“It has to be cheesy,” said Matt Drouin, one of the judges during the competition. “I like properly golden bread, not too burnt and of course, served with confidence.”

The ultimate winner was Nathanyl Brown, 14, of St. Lawrence Secondary School.

Nathanyl’s sandwich which included two pieces of bread, cheese, bacon, baconayse and pickles won the competition for him and won him the prize of getting to cook his sandwich for the lunch crowd at Schnitzels.

Nathanyl said that he likes to cook whenever he gets the chance and that the idea for the sandwich just popped into his head.
