Those would like pick up from their homes are asked to call Heart of the City Centretown Coordinator Todd Lihou at 613-362-8424.

While being organized by the Le Village BIA, the event is supported by several local partners, including the St. Lawrence River Institute, who will be providing volunteers including from their clean-up group.

“A lot of stuff from the south end of town ends up in the river,” said Karen Cooper of the St. Lawrence River Institute. “So, this partnership makes sense and we wanted to pitch in and help out.”

The Cornwall chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters will be helping out with the collection of e-waste. Big Brothers Big Sisters get money back when they return e-waste as a percentage of the pounds of waste they return. They accept everything except microwaves.

The City of Cornwall’s Waste Management department is helping out as well by agreeing to wave the tipping fees for the return of all of this e-waste.

“We’ve gotten a lot of good feedback on this. We felt it best that before the snow starts flying that we do a clean-up of the neighbourhood,” said Lihou.
