CORNWALL, Ontario – St. Lawrence College (SLC) has announced that it’s three campuses in Kingston, Brockville and Cornwall will all be smoke free as of Monday, Oct. 15.

“This is an important decision,” said Glenn Vollebregt, President and CEO, St. Lawrence College. “The risks and negative health impacts of second-hand smoke are well-known. We are excited to unite as a college in having a healthy environment where we all learn, work, and connect.”

The new rule means that smoking and vaping tobacco, cannabis or anything else, is prohibited on campus property whether it be indoors, outdoors or in a vehicle.

The rule applies to all persons on campus, including students, faculty and visitors.

The rule also extends to all events hosted on an SLC campus.

“The move to becoming smoke-free demonstrates SLC’s commitment to providing a healthy environment for our students, faculty, staff, and visitors,” SLC stated in a press release.
