CORNWALL, Ontario – The Cornwall Community Hospital Foundation (CCHF), announced on Thursday, March 1 that they had reached their $1.2 million goal for the new Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH).

The CCHF reached their goal 10 months ahead of schedule.

“We are so thankful,” said CCHF Executive Director Amy Gillespie. “We live in a very special place. We continued to be humbled by the fantastic community we live in. Reaching this goal allows us to fund an Eastern Ontario first.”

One-in-five people will experience a mental health or addiction issue at some point in their lives.

In May of last year, Gillespie said that the CCHF was at $700,000 of its $1.2 million goal for the CAMH, meaning they raised $500,000 in 10 months.

Looking forward, the CCHF is getting ready for their annual Radiothon on April 5.

“Unfortunately, the need never ends,” said Gillespie. “Government resources can never cover all of the hospital’s needs.”

The CCHF will now be raising money for a Waterproof Fetal Monitoring System for the hospital’s Birthing Suites and Bedside Cardiac Monitors for patients in the Critical Care Unit.
