CORNWALL, Ontario – For the first time in its 28 year history, the Ontario East Municipal Conference (OEMC) was held in Cornwall at the Nav Centre from Sept. 12 to 14.

“I believe it is time people look on the right side of Toronto and see the opportunities that abound here,” said Cornwall CAO Maureen Adams who addressed the attendees of the conference during the opening ceremony.

Over 500 attendees were at the conference from 20 municipalities, private interests, federal agencies and other government organizations.

Attendees got a chance to participate in informational sessions about cannabis, the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) and from keynote speaker Liane Davey who spoke on team building and leadership.

As the host city, Cornwall and the United Counties of SD&G also had a chance to show their guests the best of the region through excursions to the Cotton Mill District, the historic SD&G Jail and to the Walmart Logistic distribution centre.
