Man allegedly robs Water St. store with weapon

CORNWALL, Ontario – Andy Courville, 31, of Cornwall was arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 30 and charged with the following: 

–          Robbery with a weapon

–          Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

–          Possession of break-in instruments

–          Breach of probation (for failing to keep the peace)

–          Breach of recognizance (for failing to notify a change of address)

It is alleged the man attended a Water St. business and removed merchandise on Wednesday, Jan. 30, making no attempt to pay for the items.

A brief struggle ensued when the man was approached by a Loss Prevention Officer, at which time the man brandished a knife and fled the area. Police were contacted and located the man shortly after the incident.

The man was taken into custody, at which time he was found to be in possession of knives and a quantity of break-in tools. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
