Man killed in dump truck collision

CORNWALL, Ontario – One person is dead following a head-on crash on Boyne Road, just east of Winchester, on Thursday afternoon.

SD&G OPP were called to the scene at 1:34 p.m. after a westbound Ford vehicle collided with a dump truck, operated by a 61-year-old South Dundas man, on the two-lane highway.

The driver of the car was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

OPP Const. Joel Doiron confirmed the victim is a resident of Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry, and that his identity will be announced in a media release tomorrow.

The driver of the dump truck sustained minor injuries and was also taken to hospital.

A section of Boyne Road, between Belanger Road and Kittle Road, is closed to traffic, which will remain in effect for several hours as SD&G OPP officers assisted by OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) continue the investigation.

Emergency detours are in place.
