CORNWALL, Ontario – Cornwall Fire Services were on scene at 520 Montreal Rd. around 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18.
According to Platoon Chief Luc Richer, the fire started in the back porch area of 520. The residence building sustained smoke damage.
Richer maintained that the fire was contained and did not spread to the adjacent building at 522 Montreal Rd.
The cause of the fire was not specified.
Vehicle traffic was temporarily rerouted on Montreal Rd. in both directions and Lousia St. as crews investigated.

The scene of the porch fire is only blocks away from the blaze on Alice St. that claimed three buildings, including Poirier Furniture at the end of July.
