CORNWALL, Ontario – at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. June 27 Helene Desormeau became the newest Justice on the bench in Cornwall.
She was sworn in as a Justice of the Ontario Superiror Court, Family Court Branch.
Justice Desormeau has a background as a family law lawyer and in the Canadian military having servied with the Governor General’s Foot Guard.
“Because of your background and military training, we know you have th discipline to help us complete the mission,” said Associate Chief Justice Frank Marroco. “As for your hand to hand combat and weapons training, my advice to you is to avoid using those to pursue resolutions.”
The local court system and judges were present to view the swearing in as well as local lawyers and her family and friends.
