NORTH GLENGARRY, Ontario – Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a North Glengarry Township resident following a lengthy investigation into allegations of municipal corruption and fraud.
On Nov. 9, 2017, the OPP received a complaint from the North Glengarry Township, in relation to the results of an internal audit conducted by the township. The allegations were of corruption and fraud by a then township employee.
As a result of the investigation by members of the Anti-Rackets Branch – Ottawa Unit and the Stormont Dundas & Glengarry Crime Unit, the OPP has charged Sandra Cameron, age 62 years of North Glengarry Township, Ontario with the following:
• Breach of Trust contrary to section 122 of the Criminal Code of Canada;
• Mischief to Computer Data contrary to section 430(5) of the Criminal Code of Canada;
• Fraud Over $5,000 contrary to section 380(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada;
• False Pretense / Statement contrary to section 362(1)(c) of the Criminal Code of Canada; and
• Utter Forged Document contrary to section 368(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on December 4, 2019.
The OPP will not comment further in order to protect the integrity of the investigation and any ensuing court processes.
