SOUTH STORMONT, Ontario – At their meeting on Oct. 23, South Stormont Council heard a plan from administration to get residents off of paper billing for their Water and Sewer bills.
Paper billing can cost the township up to $16,000 per year, so to encourage residents to go electronic, will be advertising on social media that those who sign up for e-billing will be entered into a contest for a prize.
Administration said over the coming weeks, the terms of the contest such as dates and prizes will be formulated.
Administration told council that they expect to pay roughly $250 for the prizes for the contest.
“This initiative will hopefully encourage residents to sign up, thereby reducing the Township’s footprint, helping the environment, and reducing the Township and thus, users, fees,” reads an administration report to council.
