South Stormont homeowner returns to find unwanted guests

CORNWALL, Ontario – A South Stormont man returned to his family’s home Wednesday (Feb. 4) to find a break-in in progress.

SD&G OPP, assited by the OPP Canine Unit and Emergency Response Team (ERT), arrived at the County Road 42 residence at about 11:26 a.m.

Police said a witness observed two adult males at the residence and one of them was attempting to enter the home.

After calling the police, the witness saw both suspects flee the scene, one on foot, the other in a vehicle.

SD&G OPP are working on some leads but are still in need of new witnesses.

The vehicle is described as a new model Nissan Versa, black with a Quebec plate.

Police say the male driver is in his 30s and wore a black style overcoat.

The second suspect was seen wearing a black and red coat carrying a backpack.

The vehicle was last seen headed southbound on County Road 42, an extension of McConnell Avenue.

South Glengarry break-in

SD&G OPP are seeking the public’s help following a break and enter Wednesday (Feb. 4) on County Road 19 in South Glengarry.

Police say between 9:30 a.m. and noon, suspect(s) forcibly entered the home and removed a quantity of cash and assorted jewellery.
