CORNWALL, Ontario – A new chapter of health care in South Stormont is here.

After a long wait, the medical clinic in Ingleside opened its doors on Oct. 10.

South Stormont council and staff, St. Lawrence Medical Clinic doctors and staff, the project management team from CIBS Construction, and members of the public were on hand to celebrate at the official ribbon cutting ceremony.

“The newly constructed St. Lawrence Medical Clinic in Ingleside secures the future of medical practitioners for our community, and for the region,” said South Stormont Mayor Bryan McGillis in a media statement.

The facility boasts 12 exam rooms, a state of the art ECG room and lab, and convenient ambulance access.

South Stormont officials say the 64,000 sq. ft. clinic will provide the space required for patients, the teaching of medical students, and interdisciplinary healthcare providers such as physician assistants, mental health counselors, and community nurses.

The clinic is located on Thorold Lane across from the Ingleside Plaza.

“It was a pleasure working with the Township of South Stormont on this project,” said Francois Dion, project manager for CIBS Construction. “In order to meet our client’s deadline, we had to implement a very aggressive schedule.”

Dion thanked Ross Gellately, Hilton Cryderman, Betty de Haan from South Stormont, Stephen McCann from the St. Lawrence Medical Clinic, and all the sub-trades for making the project a success.
