CORNWALL, Ontario – The Canadian Border Service Agency (CBSA) has announced that delays can be expected at the Cornwall port of entry due to a water main break that occurred around 4 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 11.
Cornwall Public Works has been on site since 7 a.m. assisting with maintenance after a water pipe burst under the road exiting the Cornwall port. Workers have yet to determine the extent of the issue and how long it might take to be resolved.
After temporarily using the toll booth to process travellers, three lanes were opened. The port of entry remains closed to Commercial Truck traffic travelling northbound which is being redirected to Prescott.
“Southbound transport traffic is flowing normally,” said Jennifer MacIsaac, Community Relations Coordinator with Seaway International Bridge Corporation Ltd.
The CBSA said travellers should expect delays and recommend planning accordingly.
